¿Quiénes son los Preppers? NORTHVIVOR

The term "prepper," "preppers," or "preparers" has emerged internationally to refer to individuals or groups who prepare for any type of disaster or emergency. These individuals seek to be prepared for catastrophes, whether natural disasters such as an earthquake, hurricane, virus, etc., or civil emergencies, riots, blackouts, social conflicts , or pandemics. Therefore, they aim to be prepared to respond as appropriately as possible to the risks they may face.

A prepper or preparedness expert prepares in all areas of training to be able to deal with any emergency, using whatever methods are necessary. To do this, it's important to assess the most likely local risks to which you may be exposed.

The prepper movement began in the United States in the 1960s, primarily during the Cold War, but has spread to such an extent that Western countries such as the United Kingdom, France, Canada, Spain, and Australia have joined the prepper movement.

It's not known for sure how many preppers exist in the United States today, but it is known that in 2010 there were an estimated 4 million preppers, a figure that has been increasing, and the number of blogs, podcasts, and websites has multiplied significantly, becoming a growing social phenomenon.

In addition to providing food and water, they spend many hours training and performing a variety of activities. They practice step by step how to act and protect themselves. Some even undergo rigorous training to prepare for any eventuality in which they might have to walk for days.

Many also build shelters to be safer, some groups even have bunkers or hidden shelters where they have VHF or HF radio/radio communications systems.

They also receive training in other subjects such as transmissions and communications, first aid, survival courses and survival techniques, NBCR warfare, etc.

Preppers, or preparedness activists, don't see preparation as a goal to be achieved, but rather as a path to be followed. Their lifestyle consists of being prepared for anything that may happen: whether it's natural disasters like an earthquake, a hurricane, a virus, etc., or civil emergencies, riots, blackouts, or conflicts.

Be careful! They're not hoarders. Hoarders are those who literally stockpile masks or hand sanitizers as the coronavirus spreads. In fact, hoarders are the exact opposite of preppers. They're enemies of panic and believe that the feeling of tension must be constant because their lives revolve around preparation.

Preppers practice preparedness as a lifestyle, which requires them to educate themselves, studying materials, procedures, and techniques in the event of an emergency where their own and their group's survival is the last and only way to survive.
